1. Morganiae Archaiographia
An edition of Rice Merrick's
Book of Glamorganshire's Antiquities, written in 1578. This was the first
attempt ever made to write the history of a Welsh county. The present text is
based on six transcripts and extracts (the original manuscript having been
lost), and is much more complete and accurate than the 1825 and 1887
editions.

Gwynedd
Pierce in Morgannwg: ‘The
presentation of the volume is of a particularly high standard,
moderately priced also … No one who professes in any way to have an interest
in the history of Glamorgan should be without it.’
T. B.
Pugh in Welsh History Review: ‘Although as an antiquary and
topographer Rice Merrick was not in the same category as a more gifted
writer, George Owen of Henllys, this scholarly
edition enhances his reputation as Glamorgan’s earliest historian and the
S.W.R.S. is to be congratulated on the high standard set by the first volume
that it has published.’
