The Diary of William Thomas, 1762-1795

The subject matter of the Diary is life in a corner of south-east Glamorgan in the second half of the eighteenth century, as seen through the eyes of a country schoolmaster. It gives an extraordinarily vivid picture of life among the ordinary inhabitants of the Cardiff area as well as being an immensely useful source for genealogists. It is published in book form as a substantial abridgement.

Glyn Parry in Morgannwg: ‘William Thomas’s legacy to posterity deserves to be read by all those who are interested in our past. Having read the diary, eighteenth-century Welsh society will never look quite the same again.’
